The Rossi Posse on Skis

Nick and I took our first overnight trip away this month. Our friend Stacie graciously watched Claire over night while Nick and I went to Bend. We were given lift tickets to Mt Bachelor (thank you Blums!) and decided to rent skis and give it a shot. I have skied a couple times as a kid in Minnesota and this was Nick's first experience. Trying to be frugal we opted not to do lessons. Instead we watched instructional video clips on youtube. Yes, we may have murmured "showoff" under our breath as the 5 and 6 year old kids passed us on the beginner hill and Nick may have spend half of the day on his rear, but we had a blast! The weather couldn't have been any better. We had sunshine the entire day and the temp was nice too.

Now that we had one ski adventure under our belts we decided this is something we would like to pursue in the coming years. When we were home we looked online to see what prices would be if we wanted to have our own skis. We are talking easily over $1000 per person, nice stuff is SO expensive! Enter Craigslist! We were able to find skis for $5, poles for $5, goggles for $4, and boots for $17! They may not be pretty (unless you liked the neon colors of the early 90's) but we were going to give them a chance. We couldn't pass up such great prices! Yesterday we went to Hoodoo to try them out. They worked! Okay so it wasn't perfect. Nick ended up having to rent a pair of boots because part of his boot basically disintegrated before we even got started and while on a ski lift I tapped my feet together to knock the snow off my skis and lost one...watch out below! But all things considered the night was a blast! I guess skis are skis whether they are red, black, blue or lime green and called Rad Dogs!

Who wouldn't want to ski with that cool lookin' dude!
